2021.12.05 12:03 Amenra7 Best place to buy a variety of local coffee roasters?
Got my wife an espresso machine for Christmas and I'd love to make her a box of RVA roasters. Is there one market in town that carries a good variety of Blanchard's, Lamplighter, Ironclad, etc.? Bonus points if anyone has Mudhouse.

2021.12.05 12:03 Solenya69420 How do I ask a long time friend out
So I have this friend who I’ve known since first grade and we were pretty close until sixth grade. After I moved for two years we lost contact but reconnected a couple of months ago. For context we are both 18 now. Since we reconnected we have met up a couple of times and walked around with her dog and occasionally we talk over snap. I have really enjoyed connecting with her and want to ask her out but i need advice on how to ask her out. I don’t want to ruin our friendship and make things weird between us since we live in the same street.

2021.12.05 12:03 MrCorba How do you use Square LFO?
I use the XAOC Batumi for most of my modulation needs. I really love the way it works and probably use all sine/saw outputs in almost every patch. Only I can't think of a use for the square output.
I sometimes combine the square output with a slew limiter to get less square waveforms, or sometimes to trigger a S&H for a more random feel. But I can't think of a good way to use these square LFO's in other spots. As modulation input for filtepitch stuff it's to direct for my taste.
So I'm wondering how you use square LFO.

2021.12.05 12:03 thunderbird89 Pursuit Predation - ch. -01
Author's note: as usual, feedback and critique is highly welcome and encouraged. I'm also trying a Navigation bar at the end of the story, tell me what you think of that.
"Sergeant, how's your power supply? I'm at 78%." "82%. If we stick to autopilot, we can have the suits run us quite far before we need to stop to recharge them." "Yes, but we'll need to rest sooner, and we can't do that inside the suits. For now, let's see how far we can get."
While the suits were running, the Major reviewed the telemetry from the Heavy's suit and the Lieutenant's implants. The computer highlighted a flash in the tower just a fraction of a second before the Heavy's cannon was destroyed, then a second before the Heavy died. That meant his analysis was correct, the natives did possess weapons capable of breaching their suits - perhaps not every weapon, but at least one was a danger to them. Looking at the Lieutenant's telemetry, he saw the single shot that ended his life. It looked precise, like it came from nearby. Looking around in the suit's recorded readings, he saw a number of contacts on thermal. He counted at least nine of them in the recording, and his skin was crawling with fear as he noticed just how close they got. The suits barely picked up any noise of their approach, and it wasn't for infrared sensors, they never would have noticed them. Suddenly, one contact flashed in thermal, just before the Lieutenant's vitals went dead.
"Chemical propellants - how primitive. Yet somehow, effective." - he thought to himself.
After several hours of uneventful, if uncomfortable, running, his biomonitor started up again.
Information: recommended rest cycle."
They slowed down, and found another clearing nearby. Both of them dismounted their combat suits, and opened up one of the external compartments, pulling out a bar.
"How many do you have, Sergeant?" "Four bars, sir. Didn't think to load more rations. Didn't think we'd need any, to be frank." "Same here, Sergeant. I never expected this to go so wrong. Anyway, let's eat and rest for now. I think we left the natives far behind."
They both set their suits to guard, and the armors began moving by themselves, pulling up their rifles and posting themselves back-to-back, absorbing ambient energy to recharge their power cells. The two aliens chewed their ration bars worriedly, before settling into a meditative trance, allowing their implants to normalize their bodies again. Around them, the forest grew darker and darker into the night, until the sun rose again next morning.
"Well, that was a welcome break." - the Major observed, opening his eyes.
Their suits have managed to recharge themselves somewhat, but not to full capacity by any stretch, and their pursuers were nowhe...
Warning: proximity warning."
They jumped up, and mounted their suits right away, having learned from last time. The HUD showed several contacts approaching from the way they came.
"Spirits damn it, they found us again! How?!" "Doesn't matter, let's get moving!"
They began running, leaving the natives behind quickly. Both suits were moving faster than yesterday, and both of them knew they'd have to stop to recharge sooner, but for now, they were hoping the higher speed would be a good enough tradeoff. Their course took them over rocky riverbeds and denser wooded areas. The Major was entranced by the scenery, it reminded him of his home planet, which was in the early stages of colonization - there were still pristine, untouched areas there, where they played hide-and-seek as children and the adults ventured out to meditate. The more time he spent here, the more the disconnect between the beauty of the planet and the danger of its natives sank into his mind.
The hours passed, and passed. He did not enjoy being rattled around inside the suit, but at least the servos didn't get tired like they did.
Warning: suit power low."
They had to stop and get some more time to recharge, minimizing activity to give their cells a chance to fully power themselves. Coming to a less-densely wooded area, they dismounted their suits.
"Sergeant, how's your power cell?" "Barely 20%, sir. We need to power them off fully to be able to charge back up." "Agreed. I think we left the natives far enough behind that we don't need to stand watch, so let's rest."
The two aliens settled into their trances again, and this time, the suits stood still like statues behind them. They were completely inactive as the sun set, just trying to wring out some energy from their surroundings to charge themselves however slowly.
In the middle of the night, the Major woke up. He looked up at the starry sky, and wondered which of the points of light was his homeworld, or if his cruiser was overhead, trying to survive the calamity the natives inflicted upon them. He wondered if...
Warning: proximity warning." - he snapped out of his thoughts, and shook the Sergeant. "They're here, we need to..." "
Alert: proximity alert."
Suddenly, something bounced off his combat suit behind him, sparking on the armor. And then, cracks were sounding from everywhere around them. He was raising the suits, but it was taking them some time to come online after having powered down so deep. They both grabbed their sidearms, and sought cover from the gunfire around them, splitting up. Suddenly, there was a noise from somewhere in the dark - there were words in there, it sounded like a warning. Then an explosion. Then both their combat suits collapsed.
The Sergeant waited for an opening, and jumped out from cover. He barely took three steps when there was a burning pain in his leg and it gave out from under him. He tried to stand, but couldn't even move his left leg.
The Major saw what happened to his comrade, and saw the gunfire stopping. He took his chance and bolted.
"Spirits forgive me for this..."
"Corporal, was that you? Good shot." "Thank you, Sarge. Now what do you reckon we make of this?" "Hell if I know. Let me raise command, get someone else to take it in, we gotta go after the other two." - he pressed down on his radio - "Command, Foxhound actual. We got one of them and we have its armor. ... Yeah, it's inert. As far as I can tell, at least. ... No sir, we need to go after the other two. ... No, send another squad to bring it in. Grid ref ... uhh ... 11UNR42675235. ... Roger that, sir. Foxhound out." - he turned to his squad. "Okay people, take five. Then we go after the other two mofos. At least we know they ain't bulletproof."
Five minutes of rest and a nutrition bar later, the squad left the clearing, following the tracks left by the other two suits of armor. It still wasn't hard to follow them, the aliens apparently had no idea of stealth, or just didn't care. However, this time, the strides seemed much longer, like they were actually running, and the lengthening shadows didn't make their job easier either.
"Sergeant, one hour until dark." - the Corporal observed, looking up at the skyline - "What's your call, should we stop or keep going?" "Get your NVDs ready. We're not letting them rest."
Everyone nodded grimly and pressed on, following the trail and scanning their surroundings. As it got darker, everyone flipped their night vision goggles on, tracking the now green-lit trail of heavy footprints and broken twigs. By the time the sun was rising, the soldiers were closing in on the aliens again, this time, taking cover. The two aliens were sitting on the ground, with the suits of armor standing alert behind them, holding their rifles - the helmets had no faces, but every soldier could feel a gaze piercing through cover straight at them. Everyone was on high alert, gesturing their hand signs silently.
"Clearing, up ahead. Two of them. Guards, rifles." "You, you, you, you, and you, go that way. Stay low and hit them. Move."
But the moment the soldier began to approach, one of the suits snapped its head around. Then both of them faced the aliens, who were already on their feet and stepping back into the waiting open suits that closed immediately around them before running off.
"No good, they have some sort of active sentry system. We need to take out those suits somehow." "Perhaps. But fuckers can't run forever. Take a rest, people, grab a bite - we move in half an hour."
The Sergeant looked out over the tracks - still easy to follow, so they should have no trouble with a bit of fast marching. As the squad filed out of the clearing on the tracks, everyone was feeling more and more like their namesake - hounds, chasing a fox on the run.
After the long march, in the dead of night, suddenly the Corporal on point raised a fist. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks.
"Up ahead, two targets. Unaware." - all eyes went to the Sergeant. "Single line, silent. Let's go."
As they approached their targets, the Corporal noted the armors staying still, like they were asleep. Suddenly, one of the aliens jumped up and shook the other awake. There were words between them, and both grabbed something from the nearest suit.
Suddenly, the forest was alive with the sound of gunfire. The soldiers saw the two aliens split up and take cover - like you were supposed to. The Sergeant saw the chance, and grabbed a grenade.
"FRAG OUT!" - a bang, and the two armors crumbled. One of the aliens tried to bolt. The Sergeant aimed his rifle low and fired off a burst, collapsing the alien to the ground where it stayed writhing in pain. - "Tango down!"
The other alien made a break for it and ran among the hail of bullets, until it vanished among the trees.
"Runner, at 015º!" "Tango secured. Radio the base for an evac. You two, escort our guest back to base, the rest with me - we're finishing this."

2021.12.05 12:03 KillerQ97 Rapidseedbox needs to be factory reset to update Ubuntu? I never real sized that’s how this stuff worked…
I have been with Rapidseedbox for almost two years and have had no real issues with it. It’s fast, reliable and takes a huge burden off of my PC and storage.
I have about 1TB of torrent content (30-ish torrent files) that’s always sorting there seeding to help raise ratio and to help others torrent.
I had a certificate issue that I resolved (customer service is great), but they also mentioned something to me that kinda took me by surprise.
“Im glad you resolved it, but the reason the issue was present is because your box is outdated. Ubuntu 16.04 is not supported any more, so its suggested that you reinstall it soon enough. Back up your data and follow this article…”
Perhaps I was wrong in my thinking, but since this was a “virtual service” that I wouldn’t have to do any updates or anything like that.
More importantly, A factory reset will wipe those torrents and data from being housed on my seed box - so if I wanted to keep those files seeding and helping the community, would I have to save each current torrent again to a folder on my PC (just the .torrent file, not the actual data) and then drag them all over at once when the update is completed so they can download and begin seeding again?
I use ruTorrent.
Thankfully, I don’t actually need to download the torrent content itself as i just keep them in there to seed for others.
Just wanna make sure I’m on the right track…as I thought this was a “set it and forget it” type of setup.

2021.12.05 12:03 nice_blow1 Type me
Well, as the title says, I'd like to be typed. I've taken some tests on the internet, but they can be kinda inaccurate. Since people usually understand more if cognitive functions and mbti than me here I am to hear. So I will describe a little of myself, and you can use everything if you want (even the way I typed, choice of the words, previous posts, subreddits I follow, other posts, etc...). You guys can ask whatever question you find reasonable to understand me better.
So, I'm 21 years old, actually in the last semester of math bachelor degree. I really like math since it is self-dependant (it just needs itself to develop the theory) and many results are very beautiful. However, when I see others colleagues, I see that they seem to be way more interested than me. I still consider to follow this career, but I can change this too.
Other hobby that I have is to play video game, more specifically, league of legends. To whoever plays this games, I'm an adc main (more or less high silvelow gold), but I don't think I play that well for the time I play. When I play with my high elo friends I usually just deal more damage than the supports (if that even happens). I like to ask them what I've done wrong so I can improve and play better. But usually, when talking about league, I spend more time on YouTube seeing videos of it (some educational, but mostly for fun videos), and that's another point I'd like to talk about: procrastination.
I spend so much time on the internet, specially, on YouTube, seeing a lot of lol videos or any stuffs, when sometimes I have to do other things. Usually I left to start do my issues when it's very close to the deadline, but usually I can do it pretty decently.
Talking a little about my relationships, I've only dated once when I was very small (7 years old, I guess). I don't know if I'll ever be in a relationship (again) because I have lots of concerns around it: what my/her family will think about it, what can happen after a possible break up, and also, I don't know, since I have almost no experience, I don't know if I'd handle well with more responsibility. Anyways, talking about possible attraction, I think I feel more attracted to personality than appearance, like, if I really like someone, even if the person is not considered pretty, there's a good chance that I have something with this person.
Some curiosities that may be useful: I eat almost every meal the same thing, and it doesn't include meat (even not being vegetarian, I don't like most of meats). I don't drink soda anymore, and I've never tasted alcohol or any kind of cigarette. I've never gone to a college party, even though I had a lot of opportunities, I don't think I'd like. My native language isn't English, so this text may contain a lot of mistakes. I don't like wearing short clothes (such as shorts) nor staying without a t-shirt, I don't feel really comfortable (only when I'm alone). Sometimes, when people send me messages asking about something (that I still didn't do, but should have started), I usually only answer them when I started (or finished), so I can come back in the conversation saying that I have done something. I'm also an atheist and agnostic (that is, I don't believe it's possible to prove the existance of god, but I don't believe it exists), besides living in a country where most of the people are christian. I still believe that it's possible to change my opinion about religion, since I don't know very well the religions, and since I study several of them, I can follow one of them (actually the existance of many different religions, each with many followers, is one of the reasons I don't follow one, because may of them don't usually know how to answer why their religion is the right one while the other ones aren't correct).
To finish, I can tell a situation that happened to me that may give you all some kinda idea. Basically, a relative of mine is living where I live and we had some argues. I'm the only one in my room. So basically, I use as many tools as I can to avoid having to see her. Since she has a baby, she often has to do in her bedroom to sleep and I use this time to do what I have to outside my bedroom. But, it's not always that simple to know when she's in the bedroom, therefore, sometimes I go to the bathroom or I fill my bottle just to see if she's in there or not (I just do that when I see other evidences of possibly she has gone to her room, such as, not hearing her kid's screaming and/or seen that the light is turned off, etc...).
With this, I hope it's enough to type me. If you still type me with what many sites type me, I think I'd be very convinced that I'm that type (better not say now the type I usually get)
Thank you all in advance.

2021.12.05 12:03 Crafty-Meeting-9367 The TRUTH about Roswell and Ebens revealed by a retired U.S. Government Employee in 2005
He claims: I won't go into any great details about my past, but I was involved in a special program. As for Roswell, it occurred, but not like the storybooks tell. There were two crash sites. One is southwest of Corona, New Mexico, and the second site is at Pelona Peak, south of Datil, New Mexico. The crash involved two extraterrestrial aircraft. The Corona site was found a day later by an archaeology team. This team reported the crash site to the Lincoln County Sheriff's department. A deputy arrived the next day and summoned a state police officer. One live entity [EBE] was found hiding behind a rock.
The entity was given water but declined food. The entity was later transferred to Los Alamos. The information went to Roswell Army Air Field. The site was examined, and all evidence was removed. The bodies were taken to Los Alamos National Laboratory because they had a freezing system that allowed the bodies to remain frozen for research. The craft was taken to Roswell and then onto Wright Field, Ohio. The second site was not discovered until August 1949 by two ranchers. They reported their findings several days later to the sheriff of Catron County, New Mexico. Because of the remote location, it took the sheriff several days to make his way to the crash site. Once at the site, the sheriff took photographs and then drove back to Datil. Sandia Army Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico was then notified. A recovery team from Sandia took custody of all evidence, including six bodies. The bodies were taken to Sandia Base, but later transferred to Los Alamos. The live entity established communications with us and provided us with a location of his home planet. The entity remained alive until 1952, when he died. But before his death, he provided us with a full explanation of the items found inside the two crafts. One item was a communication device. The entity was allowed to make contact with his planet.
Somehow, I never knew this information, but a meeting date was set for April 1964 near Alamogordo New Mexico. The Aliens landed and retrieved the bodies of their dead comrades. Information was exchanged. Communication was in English. The aliens had a translation device. In 1965, we had an exchange program with the aliens. We carefully selected 12 military personnel; ten men and two women. They were trained, vetted and carefully removed from the military system. The 12 were skilled in various specialties. Near the northern part of the Nevada Test Site, the aliens landed and the 12 Americans left. One entity was left on Earth. The original plan was for our 12 people to stay 10 years and then return to Earth.
But something went wrong. The 12 remained until 1978, eight returned – two having died on Serpo and two have chosen to remain, according to the returnees. Of the eight that returned, all have died. The last survivor died in 2002. The returnees were isolated from 1978 until 1984 at various military installations. The Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI) was responsible for their security and safety. AFOSI also conducted debriefing sessions with the returnees.
