2022.01.17 14:03 Avacha98 Question: Chemistry/math background -> chemical engineering, textbook etc recommendation
Alright, here's my background:
I'm an undergrad majoring chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Although I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish in my undergrad, the triple major isn't quite as impressive as it looks -- I'm at a small liberal arts school (high school me didn't understand the significance of going to a large institution vs a small one), and since I feel like that drags me down a bit, I have basically been trying to accumulate as much course work as I can while my school is paying for it. I have several years of research experience (an REU, academic, currently interning w/ an R&D company).
Here's the problem:
Although my academic background is in the natural sciences, engineering research is way more interesting to me. So, I'm looking at going into chemical engineering, ideally with a research focus in some kind of microbiological/biomedical applications. The problem is that -- outside of having a decent mathematics foundation -- I have zero experience with academic engineering material.
Here's the question:
What texts would you recommend I look at to develop a foundation in chemE prior to starting grad school? Really, I just need enough to pass the entrance exams. Once I'm in, I feel confident I can pick up whatever I need to.

2022.01.17 14:03 Single_Blackberry Lens Recommendation
Hi! I am gearing up to shoot my first feature (gasp) and all I have is my nifty 50 and my shit Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II (which has a cool vignette to it after dropping it). I am looking for a wide/medium lens that is under 200. I like the looks of the Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens, but I'm wondering if it will be enough. It's certainly cheap enough for me, but if it's too cheap the cast and crew will harass me. I really like the idea of 16mm, but am wondering if, there is a more professional standard I need to be making peace with at this point.

2022.01.17 14:03 TheFlameAlchemist54 A hypothetical: McKissic
I’ll start off by saying I think we should and will bring back McKissic.
However, this team needs to be looking to significantly upgrade the offense this offseason, and resigning McKissic is going to cost $3-5 million AAV. In addition, it seems last offseason’s addition - Curtis Samuel - already has a lot of the same skills/value in our offense: - quick/elusive ball carrier - occasional run out of shotgun (but couldn’t handle full workload without getting banged up) - good pass catcher out of backfield
I do want to point out that McKissic is a very good pass blocker while Samuel may not be able to do well as a WR.
So with these things in mind, would you guys prefer to keep McKissic as 3rd down back, or prioritize a more traditional WR via free agency or draft and let Samuel assume some of the 3rd down duties?

2022.01.17 14:03 Hi-No-Ishi-1998 Finished "The Little Sisters of Eluria"
That was a fun little short story which didn't overstay its welcome. Not too much in the way of character development, but that's about what I expected. King seems more focused on capturing the precarious nature of Roland's stay with the sisters and handles it well.
His vamps are creepy enough and dangerous enough to work as threats for a gunslinger so indisposed. Definitely want to see more of their kind so as to understand how they came about and impact the world.
Also nice to see Roland's spark of nobility hasn't been completely extinguished here. His conduct with the dog, John Norman (what happened to the medallions?), and the green folk all speak to it. He's even able to reexperience romantic love, if only for a brief moment. Reaffirms his humanity and how tragic Ka is.
